Educational Programs

It's A G.A.S. (Great Artist Series) - The Great Artist Series is an innovative and unique way in which your children learn about the Great Artists of our time.  Volunteers will visit a classroom each month and discuss the life and times of an artist and then sponsor an art project which related to the artist's style or medium.  Volunteers do not have to be art historians or even art literate.  All the research is done for you and all the materials is supplied.

The Museum of Science Pass - Available at the Bedford Library.  The Museum of Science Pass is good for up to 4 discounted exhibit hall admissions ($5 per person) per day.  Regular price tickets range from $14-$17 per person.

Math Superstars - Math Superstars is an extracurricular math enrichment program, at each school, which provides students with the opportunity to enhance their math skills.  Each volunteer works with a classroom passing out math papers, correcting and keeping track of participation.  At the end of the year, there are awards and surprises!

Stand By Me -  PTG is one of the many sponsors for this day long event, held in the Spring for the seventh graders at McKelvie School.

Winter Reading Night -  Bedford elementary school children, staff and their families are invited to attend a special night of fun as our Bedford Principals read books all about a special time of year…Winter!

Volunteer Committees

Communication/Publicity - Our communications/publicity handles all communication/public relations within the community.  Our means of publicity is through the PTG Notebook in the Bedford Bulletin, our Flyer that goes home with all students, our PTG Bulletin Boards in all four schools and our website www.bedfordptg.org

Fundraising - Our fundraising committee reviews and evaluates all our present and future PTG funded programs and fundraising efforts, that will best meet our needs and goals.

Hospitality - Hospitality is responsible for coordinating refreshments at all PTG monthly general meetings.  A group, called the "Baker's Dozen", will form to support PTG fundraisers and special events.  Hospitality will also communicate all special correspondence when needed.

Membership - By becoming a PTG member, you can help to sponsor enrichment programs in the school and assist in purchasing equipment and learning materials for our children.  The annual membership cost is $12.00 per family.  Please complete and return the membership envelope to your child's school and receive your "School Year Events Calendar".  We appreciate and thank you for your support of the Bedford PTG.

Room Parent Program  - Teachers request one or more room parents to assist with parties and special projects.  The PTG uses room parents to help contact class parents for special events and support.

Grandparents' Day/Senior Citizens' Day - Grandparents and seniors of the community are invited to a luncheon and a special tour and entertainment at each school.

Volunteer Program - School volunteers are matched to teacher-requested jobs throughout the school year.  No experience is needed and training is provided.  These volunteers may be asked to volunteer one time, once a week or once a month.  All volunteers have contributed to our successive Blue Ribbon Awards throughout our elementary and middle schools.
